Sarawak-owned universities will provide free tertiary education in finance and accounting, from 2026, reported.

This initiative aims to support the management and auditing of the financial aspects of Sarawak’s green economy.

The move was announced by Sarawak State Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg in Malaysia.  

The Premier made the announcement during a reception with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants Malaysia stakeholders early in December 2024, underlining the importance of these fields, particularly in relation to carbon trading and environmental sustainability.

He highlighted the critical role that accountants play in ensuring transparency and proper valuation within these emerging sectors.
